Cork Care and Maintenance

Traditional Cork when properly maintained can last and look beautiful for decades. Cork is natural and when exposed to direct sunlight, cork can fade. If proper leg protectors, casters or chair pads are not used, cork can indent without 100% recovery.

CARE TIPS:
Keep the floor surface free of dirt by sweeping it daily.

Clean up spills immediately.

Never flood the floor surface with any liquid or use harsh or abrasive cleaners.

Periodic vacuuming or sweeping with a soft broom eliminates the fine particles of dirt or grit that act like sandpaper and will scratch the floor.

Use walk-on mats at entrance doors.

Avoid rubber backed or other non-ventilated mats or rugs.

Furniture pads are recommended to prevent permanent indentations in the flooring. Caster wheeled chairs should have wide casters.

When overall cleaning, use an ivory liquid soap (only 2-3 drops per pail of water) with a damp mop. Do not flood, as excess water causes damage. It is important that the mop is well wrung out before cleaning.

Protect cork flooring from excessive direct sunlight to avoid fading of the organic pigments.
