Linoleum

Linoleum is made from natural materials, and many of its most desirable performance attributes (durability and anti-microbial properties) are the result of continued oxidation of the linseed oil over its life. This type of flooring is ideal for high-traffic areas because of its long-lasting durability. Linoleum is water resistant, and is therefore a great choice for kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms and mud rooms. Linseed oil is produced by pressing the seeds from the flax plant. Initially when linoleum products are taken out of the box you will see a yellowish cast or “ambering.” This is normal. The visual discolorations are temporary. When exposed to light the ambering disappears, sometimes within a few hours.
